The Associate of Arts in general studies at University of Maryland Global Campus allows you to pursue your personal, educational, and career goals by developing an interdisciplinary course of study. This program incorporates and emphasizes core competencies, including effective writing and communication; IT and information literacy; mathematical and quantitative reasoning; critical analysis, critical reasoning, and problem-solving; and more.

- Accounting and Finance: Take accounting- and finance-related courses.
- Business and Management: Take ACCT, BMGT, ECON, FINC, HMGT, HRMN, IFSM, or MRKT courses.
- Computer Studies: Take CMIT, CMSC, CMST, DATA, IFSM, or SDEV courses. Review the course descriptions and technology requirements before enrolling for courses in this area.
- Criminal Justice: Take CCJS courses.
- Foreign Language Area Studies: Take sequential courses in a single language, usually numbered 111–112, 114–115, or 211–212. You can also take courses in the culture, history, language, literature, or government and politics of an international area. - Military History: Take military history-related courses, including courses that may be applicable to the bachelor’s degree in history, such as the following:
