This program is designed to help you develop expertise in current and emerging instructional technologies, gain a deep understanding of the role of technology in the contemporary school, and lead change efforts at the classroom, school, and district levels to improve student achievement.

Note: This program does not lead to teacher certification in Maryland.

Although Maryland does not offer licenses, certifications, or endorsements for graduates of the MEd program, other states may do so.

Experience Recommended for Success in the Program

The Master of Education in instructional technology is designed for students with professional experience teaching in P–12 schools. If you lack teaching experience, you may want to choose another UMGC education-related graduate program. Strong writing skills are also encouraged in this program.
