Getting Feedback

Whether you seek feedback from the writing center, your instructor, or friends and family, the overall goal is to allow a fresh set of eyes the opportunity to look for both higher and lower order concerns:

  • Is the thesis clear?

  • Does the introduction meet the goals and grab attention?

  • Are the assignment expectations met?

  • Does the structure and organization make sense and support the thesis?

  • Are the body paragraphs structured logically?

  • Are the ideas adequately developed to support the argument?

  • Do outside sources seamlessly integrate into the argument?

  • Is the content written for the proper audience?

  • Are the voice and tone formal and academic?

  • Is the conclusion paragraph well developed?

  • Are the sentences concise and clear?

  • Are ideas presented with smooth transitions?

  • Is proper punctuation used?

  • Is there a variety of words used, without repetition?

  • Are there any spelling errors?

  • Does the paper meet formatting expectations?

  • Are outside sources properly cited?

  • Are tenses consistent?
